The men's basketball team has achieved many successes:
  • Nine consecutive 20-win seasons (2006-present)
  • Five straight trips to NAIA-I National Tournament, three trips to Round of 16 (2011-2013)
  • NAIA II national champions 2002; ranked No. 1 throughout the season finishing the year 35-1
  • Won the Heart of America Athletic Conference championship six times (2013, 2011, 2008, 2002, 2001, and 1997)
  • Won the HAAC postseason tournament six times and has a 33-15 record in their history in the conference post-season
  • 12 trips to the NAIA National Tournament including the last five straight seasons to the NAIA-I National Tournament
  • 61 athletes have won all-conference laurels (31 First Team selections)
  • 28 athletes have won All-American awards (four 1st team)
  • 11 athletes have won NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete awards

Head Coach Steve Jenkins has been honored with six conference Coach of the Year awards, has more than 600 career wins, National NAIA Coach of the Year in 2001-02, inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame (2014), Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame (2013) and Springfield Area Sports Hall of Fame (2011).
