Atchison, Kan. – Benedictine pulled away late from Evangel for a 64-52 conference win at home Saturday.

Evangel led 36-35 with 13:10 remaining and trailed by just five with 3:30 to go but the Ravens hit free throws and caused turnovers with a full court press to take over down the stretch.  

Evangel forward Sierra McSpadden had 19 points and 11 rebounds while Emily Akins added 15.

Erin Murphy had 24 points for Benedictine to lead all scorers.  

Evangel fell to 2-5 and 1-1 in the Heart of America conference. Benedictine improved to 11-1 and 2-0 in the conference.

Evangel plays at Oral Roberts on Wednesday in a game that counts as an exhibition game for the Crusaders. Tipoff is at noon in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
