Point Lookout, Mo. – Evangel could not overcome foul trouble in the second half and College of the Ozarks rallied from five points behind midway through the second half to defeat the Crusaders 80-67 at the Keeter Gym in Point Lookout Tuesday night.

Evangel owned a 50-45 lead with 12:31 left but moments earlier were forced to sit out Victor Agbasi and J.J. Williams with four fouls each. The Bobcats outscored the Crusaders 35-17 the rest of the game to pull away for the win. For the second half, College of the Ozarks outscored Evangel 50-33 after the Crusaders had a 34-30 halftime lead.

Brodie Wingert led Evangel with 15 points. Zack Kleine and Agbasi added 11.

Mike Wiebe had 27 to lead College of the Ozarks while Nathane Simniok posted 26.

Evangel dropped to 9-4 while College of Ozarks improved to 10-3. The Crusaders moved to #18 in this week’s NAIA-I national poll.

The win by the Bobcats splits the season series between the two teams and is Evangel’s ninth straight loss to the Bobcats in Point Lookout dating back to 2004.

The Crusaders are idle until Dec. 29 when they play the current #1 ranked team in NAIA-I, Oklahoma Baptist. Evangel will host the Bison for the 4 p.m. game at the Ashcroft Center on Dec. 29.
