Women's basketball pulls away late at Missouri Valley for win

Game Summary

Marshall, Mo. – Evangel outscored Missouri Valley 12-2 in the final six minutes to pull away for a road win in the Heart of America conference 53-42 Thursday in Marshall, Missouri.

Sierra McSpadden led all scorers with 13 points and added 8 rebounds while Tiaunshe Brown chipped in with 11 points.

Evangel’s defense forced 22 Missouri Valley turnovers and held the Vikings to 33 percent shooting from the field including a 4 for 18 second half. The Vikings had no double-figure scorers.

The Crusaders led 26-25 at halftime and outscored Missouri Valley 27-17 in the second half.

Evangel improved to 2-1 in the conference and 3-6 overall while the Vikings fell to 4-11 and 1-2 in the league.

Evangel returns home Saturday for a conference game against Graceland. Tipoff is at 2 p.m. at the Ashcroft Center.
