Marshall, Mo – Evangel overcame a slow start and put together a big second half to win at Missouri Valley 88-61 Thursday night.
The Crusaders didn’t score for the first four minutes and fell behind 6-0. Victor Agbasi sparked Evangel with four three-pointers in the first half and helped his team to a 34-28 lead at the half.
Evangel took over in the second half outscoring the Vikings 54-33 while connecting on 16 of 29 shots in the second half while holding Missouri Valley to 35 percent in the last 20 minutes.
Agbasi finished with a season high 20 points going 6 for 10 from the field and 5 for 8 from three-point range in just 17 minutes of play. Korry Tillery also had a season high 16 points while leading Evangel with 8 rebounds.
Former Nixa guard Jordan Epps led Missouri Valley with 18 points.
Evangel improved to 10-4 and 3-1 in the Heart of America conference while the Vikings fell to 5-10 and 0-3 in the league.
Evangel plays at home on Saturday in a conference game against Graceland. Tipoff is at 4 p.m. at the Ashcroft Center.
