Springfield, Mo. – 16th ranked Benedictine closed out the game outscoring Evangel 22-3 in the last 9:45 of regulation to beat the Crusaders 72-41 at the Ashcroft Center Saturday.
The Ravens (20-3, 10-1) led 31-17 at halftime but the Crusaders pulled within 10 early in the second half. Benedictine then went on a decisive run to win their seventh straight game. The loss was Evangel’s sixth in a row.
Emily Akins led Evangel with 16 points while Sierra McSpadden added 14. Justice Payne led Benedictine with 20 points and connected on six three-pointers to lead the Ravens.
Evangel does not play again until next Saturday when they take on Baker in Baldwin City, Kan. Tipoff is 2 p.m. at Baker.
