Women's basketball snaps skid with win over Mo. Valley

Springfield, Mo. – Evangel snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 68-54 win over Missouri Valley Thursday at the Ashcroft Center.

Sierra McSpadden had a game-high 28 points while Emily Akins added 22 points for the Crusaders. Briana Walsh had a season high 8 points and had 8 rebounds for Evangel.

Gabi Morales led Missouri Valley with 14.

The Crusaders led 34-24 at halftime and but the Vikings pulled within five points of the lead midway through the second half.

The win gave Evangel a 1.5 game lead over Missouri Valley for eighth place in the conference as they improved to 5-13 and 4-8 in the Heart of America conference. Missouri Valley dropped to 6-19 and 3-10.

Evangel travels to Graceland Saturday for their next game. Tipoff is at 2 p.m. in Lamoni, Iowa.
