Evangel seeks 20th win of season at Avila: Evangel looks for their 20th win the season Thursday night at Avila. The Crusaders are 19-5, 12-2 in the Heart of America conference and in first place in the league with a one-game lead over MidAmerica Nazarene at Culver-Stockton.

A win Thursday would give Evangel their eighth consecutive 20-win season and continue a program record streak of 20-win campaigns.

Avila enters Thursday’s game with an 8-16 record and a 3-11 mark in the league. The Eagles are in 9th place in the HAAC and are one game out of 8th, the final conference tournament spot. Avila is coached by former Missouri State Bear Rodney Perry, who played under Charlie Spoonhour from 1991-93.

The Crusaders won the Jan. 10 meeting 80-58 in Springfield and they lead the all-time series 42-16. Evangel lost at Avila last season and the two teams split the season series last year.
