Tennis falls in season opener at William Jewell 5-4

Liberty, Mo. — Evangel was edged 5-4 by NCAA-II opponent William Jewell in their season opener Monday in Liberty, Mo. Evangel sophomore Amy Grossklag won her singles match 6-3, 6-1. She and doubles partner Ali Sivinski also cruised to an 8-2 win in their doubles match. Sivinski and Jenna Elliott also picked up singles wins in Monday’s match.

Evangel fell to 0-1 while William Jewell improved to 4-0.

The Crusaders host a four-team event in Springfield this Friday and Saturday at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
