Men's basketball moves up to #9 in NAIA-I national poll

Springfield, Mo. – The Evangel University men’s basketball moved up to #9 in the NAIA-I national poll today. The Crusaders were ranked 10th last week and they continue to improve on their highest position in the national poll since their move to NAIA-I in the 2008-09 season.

The poll did not take into account games played Monday. The Crusaders are 22-6 and 15-3 in the Heart of America conference and had their nine-game winning streak snapped Monday in a 99-92 loss to MidAmerica Nazarene.

Culver-Stockton is tied for 22nd in the national poll while MidAmerica Nazarene dropped out of the top 25.

Evangel opens the Heart of America conference tournament Thursday at the Ashcroft Center against 8th seeded Peru State. Game time is 7 p.m.
