Women's tennis wins 5-4 at Missouri Western

St. Joseph, Mo. – Evangel edged NCAA-II opponent Missouri Western 5-4 last weekend playing just their third match of the season.

The Crusaders got wins from each of their three top singles players including a three-set victory by Alissa Sivinksi. The freshman from Omaha, Neb. defeated Kalya Dysart winning the first set 6-4, losing 0-6 in the second, but prevailing 10-8 in the third set.

Amy Grossklag won 6-0, 6-2 over Meara Smith and Jenna Elliott downed Denise Chiao 6-1, 6-0.

The Crusaders clinched the match with a doubles victory by Elliott and Kelly Bush as they defeated Dysart and Alyssa Dougan 8-4.

Evangel improves to 2-1 and dropped the Griffins to 3-11. Weather has forced Evangel to have cancelled five matches so far this season.

The Crusaders are scheduled to host a tournament this weekend at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
