Springfield, Mo. – Evangel University women’s basketball has signed forward Reggine (Ray) Brown out of H.B. Plant High School in Tampa, Florida.
Brown averaged 14.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.1 blocks per game for a team that finished 19-8 last season. Her team won the District 7 championship in Florida Class 8A and she was a 2nd team All-Hillsborogh County team.
“She’ll compete, like other freshmen we’ve signed this year, for starting or key roles on our team next year,” said Evangel head coach Leon Neal. “She is a very athletic player and definitely gives us someone that can keep a variety of players of in front of her defensively. She’s a really good rebounder and is versatile.”
The 5-11 forward was the Most Valuable Player of the Tampa area United Negro College Fund All-Star game scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. She played three varsity seasons for Plant HS and was the MVP of the varsity team at Brandon High School in her freshman year. Brown carries a 4.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale
