Fayette, Mo. – Central Methodist swept Evangel and clinched the Heart of America conference regular season title in a doubleheader Wednesday in Fayette.

Bri Ford pitched a 6-hit shutout against Evangel allowing just two walks with four strikeouts. Katie Tollefson had two of the Crusaders six hits as she went 2 for 3 at the plate.

The Eagles shut out Evangel in the second half of the doubleheader for a 4-0 win. Aubrey Utley held Evangel to six hits and allowed no walks with six strikeouts. Shelby Hoffman went 2 for 3 for Evangel while Brittney Arnold went 2 for 4 with a triple. Central Methodist’s Lauren Geringer hit two home runs in the game going 3 for 3 with 4 RBIs.

The losses dropped Evangel to 24-12 and 7-7 in the conference. Central Methodist improved to 29-10-1 and 15-1 in the conference.

Evangel continues their road trip with a doubleheader Thursday at Graceland.
