Springfield, Mo. – Evangel was swept in a doubleheader for the first time since March 16 as they fell 13-5 and 7-2 to Graceland on Thursday. The losses also mark the first time Evangel has been swept at home this year.

Blake McKnight had a person five-game winning streak as Graceland picked up 7 hits, 8 runs and 4 earned runs with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts in just 4 innings. Graceland’s Gabriel Ayala went 3 for 4 with two doubles. Evangel’s Jake Garrison with 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBIs.

Evangel lost game two and lost their grip on a 2-1 lead after four innings. The Yellowjackets scored two runs in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead and they tacked on four more late runs to pull away. Jacob Childers led Evangel at the plate going 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored. Five Graceland players had five hits each in the game.

The Crusaders (31-16, 16-8) fall one game back of Central Methodist (20-10, 16-6) with two games remaining in the regular season. The Eagles have four games left and play two games Friday against Culver-Stockton. Evangel continues their series against Graceland (20-24, 11-13) Friday with a doubleheader at the Evangel Baseball Complex.
