Springfield, Mo. – Five Evangel softball players were named All-Heart of America conference performers and three won league Gold Glove awards for their play defensively.
P Lenzie Boring was one of four Evangel players selected as First Team all-conference performers. The senior from Humbolt, Kansas went 15-5 with a 1.45 earned run average. Her ERA was second best in the conference. She recorded 199 strikeouts against just 27 walks in 150 innings. Her strikeouts per game and ERA were second best in the conference while her hits allowed and opposing batting average of .156 led the league.
Freshman outfielder Brittany Arnold was a First Team selection after hitting .351 with 5 home runs and 22 runs batted in. The Canton, Texas native led Evangel with 12 stolen bases. Lauren Bunch-Bright, a catcher LaPorte, Texas was also on the First Team hitting .330 with a team leading 9 homers and 27 RBIs. She was fourth in the conference with a .670 slugging percentage. Senior outfielder Kari Tall-Domingos was also on the All-HAAC First Team. The Sacramento, California native led the Crusaders in hitting posting a .354 average with 3 home runs and 19 RBIs. She was third in the league with 13 doubles during the year.
Shortstop Marriana Nelson was a Second Team all-conference pick. Nelson, a senior from Eden Prairie, Minnesota, hit .342 with 3 home runs and 27 RBIs.
Evangel players won three Gold Glove awards from the conference. League coaches voted for the top defensive player at each position as recipients. OF Brittany Arnold, OF Kari Tall-Domingos were honored for two of the three outfield positions and P Lenzie Boring also won at the Utility position.
