QB Andrew Brimhall returns to lead Evangel in 2013

Springfield, Mo. – The Evangel University football team will start their 37th season at Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday, Sept. 14. The Crusaders enter their Heart of America conference schedule the following week and continue league play for next nine weeks.
Evangel’s season opener at Kansas Wesleyan is part of the inaugural Heart of America Athletic Conference-Kansas Collegiate Athletic Association Challenge and will mark the first meeting between the two teams since an NAIA playoff meeting in 2001 that the Crusaders won 48-0. The Sept. 14 game will also mark the latest date Evangel has started a season since 2000 when they had a Sept. 16 opener against Culver-Stockton.
The Crusaders open their home schedule on Sept. 28 against MidAmerica Nazarene at JFK Stadium with a 6 p.m. kickoff. Evangel hosts their Homecoming game Oct. 5 at Plaster Stadium on the Missouri State campus facing Culver-Stockton for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
Evangel’s two other home games are at JKF Stadium at Parkview High School as they take on Graceland on Oct. 26 and they end the regular season against Benedictine on Nov. 16. Both are 1:30 p.m. games.
The Crusaders are coming off of their first winning season in six years going 7-4, 6-3 in the HAAC and ranked 23rd nationally in the NAIA.
