Springfield, Mo. – The Evangel University women’s tennis team saw singles player Amy Grossklag win the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central-West Region tournament championship while Grossklag and doubles partner Jenna Elliott won the regional doubles title this weekend in Wichita, Kansas.
Grossklag, a sophomore from Bonita Springs, Florida, was the top seed in the singles tournament and won the championship with a 6-0, 7-5 win over Breanna Honer from Bethel (Kan.).
Grossklag and Elliott, a freshman from Green, Ohio, won the doubles title defeating a duo from Nebraska Wesleyan in a single set 8-3.
The regional championships mark the third straight season Evangel has won championships at the tournament and advanced players to the national championships.
Grossklag will compete for the ITA national singles championship and she and Elliott also advance to the doubles national championship. The ITA NAIA national championship will be held October 11-14 in Mobile, Alabama.
