J.J. Williams named men's basketball HAAC Player of the Week

Springfield, Mo. – Evangel men’s basketball point guard J.J. Williams was named the Heart of America conference men’s basketball Player of the Week for his play in two games last week.

Williams averaged 22.5 points, shot 62.5 percent from the floor going 15 for 24 from the field and he connected on 13 of his 17 free throw attempts. The Arlington, Texas native also averaged 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in Evangel’s two games last week.

The senior had 11 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals in Evangel’s win last Thursday at Avila. Then Williams went off for a career high 34 points Saturday in a win over Peru State.  

The Crusaders are 9-1 and will host College of the Ozarks on Tuesday. The Evangel women’s team faces the Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s game follows at the Ashcroft Center.
