Email Valorie Coleman

Professional Information: Evangel University B.S. in Communications/Emphasis in Journalism, 1993 After graduating Evangel, I worked at the Assemblies of God Headquarters for five years. I served as Assistant Editor in the Christian Higher Education Department, helping to start On Course magazine. I also was privileged to work on behalf of all Assemblies of God colleges to promote them to our constituency. Over the course of my career, I have had many unique opportunities including owning and operating a retail business, serving as executive administrative assistant at the Four Diamond resort Chateau on the Lake in Branson, Missouri and writing for many of the national publications of the Assemblies of God including the Pentecostal Evangel. Those closest to me now are rejoicing that I have come to Evangel to work in my “Dream Job!” During my time as a student at Evangel, I worked as a work study in the Public Relations office. I truly feel that I have come home!

Job Responsibilities: Develop stories for print and digital publications including Vision magazine, the News-Leader, Evangel University Facebook posts and tweets and other campus publications. Work as a team to brainstorm and develop new ways of telling Evangel’s story, assist in managing work flow of the office including overseeing work study students, and disseminate information to news media on a local and national level.

Started Work: January 4, 2012

Favorite Thing About Work: My favorite thing about work is the opportunity to tell the story of Evangel University. My hope and my prayer is that I can make a difference in the lives of students, faculty, and those considering their options for higher education. I know many young people will choose Evangel University, and they will fall in love with this place!

Was an Evangel Student: 1988-1993

Favorite Memory as a Student: Meeting lifelong friends and colleagues on the first day of freshmen orientation; sharing care packages from home with my mentor Shirley Shedd during freshman year; all-nighters working on the Lance; the sound of “Sing Halleluiah to the Lord” floating a cappella through the chapel; a massive, spontaneous revival on campus during my sophomore year.

Originally From: Conway, AR

Personal Information: I love spending time with my family—my husband Bill Coleman, daughter Veronica and son Matthew. They are the light of my life. We enjoy having people in our home on a regular basis including Sunday night small group!

Other: I remember sitting in the office of Paul Logsdon, Evangel’s Director of Public Relations, as a freshman writing for the Lance. It is so true that history repeats itself … here we are again. Some things have changed. (Nice office!) Some things have not. (Where is his desk?!)
