Professional Information: Total years employed at E.U.: 15 years Total years Law enforcement/Public Safety combined: 27 years Sgt. Tom Davis graduated from Evangel College in 1980. He then was hired as a Security Officer at the college and held the position for approximately 6 ½ years. During that time he received training in handgun and held a special Deputy Commission. He was promoted to Sergeant at the College. In 1985 he took and successfully passed the State certification Law Enforcement class and became a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. In October of 1986 he was hired as a full time road Deputy with GCSD and held the rank of Patrol Officer for approximately 2 years. He was then promoted to Victim/Witness Officer and was in the Detective unit. During that time he worked with victims and witnesses of crime’s and kept them updated on the status of their criminal case. He also maintained an investigative caseload. In 05/1994 he was promoted to Detective and was assigned to work crimes against persons, harassment, and also burglary investigation’s. During his tenure as a Detective he was also a member of the Greene County SERT team and had extensive training with building entry and handgun training. He was handgun qualified on a yearly basis, received training in self defense, was CPR certified, Identi-Kit, Defensive tactics, and was DWI certified. He was qualified to carry 9 mm, 10 mm, and .40 cal. handguns, as well as .12 ga. Shotgun and AR 15 rifle. After resigning his post in February of 1996 he was hired by Republic Police Department and held the rank of Detective. He served in a reserve capacity until March of 1998.In October 2005 he was hired by Evangel University as a Public Safety Officer and was soon promoted to Sergeant on the Float shift. He currently holds that position. In July 2009 he successfully passed the concealed weapons training course and is currently certified to carry a handgun in that capacity.
Job Responsibilities: Building security,perimeter patrolling of campus property, traffic enforcement, enforcing campus policy.
