Professional Information: Joel Griffin is a native of Southern Missouri and graduate of Missouri Southern State University with a B.A. in Saxophone Performance, M.M. in Theory/Composition from Missouri State University and has begun his doctoral studies at the University of North Texas. Prior to coming to Evangel University, Mr. Griffin served on faculty at Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, TX and Messenger College in Joplin, MO. He has also taught at the Missouri State University Missouri Fine Arts Academy. Mr. Griffin has studied with Brad Leali, Randy Hamm, Dave Pietro, Kim Park, Dr. Charles Thelen, Dr. Phil C. Wise, and Dr. Michael F. Murray.
In demand as a performer, educator and adjudicator, Mr. Griffin is the founding member of the Dallas Asia Pacific Connection, which performs in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex and throughout Southeast Asia. He has performed with artists such as Grammy Award winners Bob Mintzer, Billy Hunt, Bobby Watson, CeCe Winans, Fred Hammond and Smokie Norful as well as Dove award winner Dallas Holm, and jazz greats such as The Cab Calloway Orchestra, Maynard Ferguson, Paul Mckee, Miles Osland, Vince DiMartino, Joan Bender, Allen Hood, Bill Perkins, and Kim Richmond.
