Edward Sands and Tommy Meyer Named All-Conference Performers

Springfield, MO – Evangel University running back Tommy Meyer and defensive back Edward Sands were among 12 Evangel football players named as all-conference performers in the Heart of America Athletic Conference as selected by league coaches.

Senior DB Edward Sands was named Second Team All-Conference marking the fourth time in his career he has been an all-league selection. Sands was previously honored as a wide receiver but the Apopka, Florida native made the switch to defense on a full time basis in 2010. Sands had three interceptions and had seven pass break-ups. He finished the year with 60 tackles, third most on Evangel’s team.

Meyer, a sophomore from West Plains, was named Third Team All-Conference. He finished third in the league in rushing averaging 66 yards per game with 7 touchdowns. Meyer was fourth best in the conference in all-purpose yards with 112 yards per game as he added 258 receiving yards and 199 return yards.

Senior QB Richie Roepke was named an honorable mention all-conference selection. Roepke finished third in the HAAC in passing yards per game averaging 213 yards per game. The Strafford, Missouri native also had 17 passing touchdowns.

Also on the honorable mention all-conference list is: TE Dustin Ross (Sr., Boyton, Okla.), WR Lim Windham (Fr., Mobile, Ala.), OL Chris Teed (Sr., Phelps, NY), K Drew O’Cain (Soph., Colorado Springs, Col.), DE Preston Henry (Fr., Greenwood, Mo.), DL Mitch Wilson (Jr., Montezuma, Iowa), LB Jamail Randle (Soph., Houston, Tex.), LB Trevon Myers (Sr., Houston, Tex.), and CB Cedric Reese (Soph., Apopka, Fla.).
