Favorite Thing About Work:
It is an honor to be part of the undergraduate music students' lives during these important years of developing their skills and watching them explore all the avenues of their future. Also, it has been a blast working with the degree completion students helping them explore their creative side in learning to play piano.
Originally From: Salem, OR
I have been married for 32 years to Dr. Dwight Sheets, Theology Professor here at EU and we have three sons, Noah (20)an EU and MSU Art Major, Simon (16)a 10th grader at Central HS and Isaac (11) a 6th grader at Pershing MS. I was born in McMinnville, OR, but grew up in Salem, Oregon and attended People's Church. We pastored for 10 years on the west coast while attending school and seminary. We moved here from the east coast where Dwight served 10 years teaching Theology at Valley Forge Christian College and I directed the Fine Arts at West-Mont Christian Academy (PK-12). In the early years I traveled and sang in the Oregon/Washington area. But most of my musical history has been teaching music education PK-8, choral 6-12 grades and musical/drama productions K-12 grades. Over the years I have taught private piano and voice lessons, instructed class piano at VFCC and directed the PR choir at LABC in CA and directed youth and adult choirs in several churches. We attend and are actively involved directing the Kidz choir, adult sunday school and RR and play piano for the worship band for the main early service and the youth service at Evangel Temple in Springfield. When I am not teaching at EU, I am a music education and early childhood sub for the Springfield Public School District and teach private piano lessons.
