Professional Information: Saxophonist, composer and educator Joel Griffin is a native of Southern Missouri and has been on the professional music scene since 1998. Dr. Griffin's talents as a gifted musician have made him in-demand performer, clinician and adjudicator.
Joel is the founding member of the Dallas Asia Pacific Connection, which performs in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex and throughout Southeast Asia. He has shared the stage with Grammy Award winners Bob Mintzer, Billy Hunt, Bill and Gloria Gaither, Dove Award winner Dallas Holm, Stellar Award winner Micah Stampley and jazz artists Bobby Watson, Bill Perkins, The Cab Calloway Orchestra, Joan Bender, Wayne Bergeron, Darren Rahn, The Jim Widner Big Band, Gary Smulyan, Kim Parker to name a few.
Music Education has always been important to Joel and he currently holds the position of Director of Jazz Studies at Evangel University. He has taught as apart of the faculties at Southwestern University, Missouri Stateís Fine Arts Academy and Messenger College. Joel has given clinics at many high schools and colleges around the world.
Joel holds a bachelorís degree in saxophone performance from Missouri Southern State University, masterís degree in music theory from Missouri State University and a doctor of musical arts in music education from Boston University.
